Beginner Gun

Understand what this gun is before you purchase it. If you’re looking for a radar that you can sit 30 rows up at a showcase and clock accurate numbers with, this is NOT your gun. This is not a gun for a pro scout, or someone who requires chronograph level accuracy. That being said, for 90 dollars, it gets the job done. As an owner of both this and a Pocket Radar Ball Coach, I can confirm that this gun is +/- 3mph with the Pocket Radar, under the condition that it is aimed precisely. The range is short, but if you can stand directly behind a pitcher, angling slightly downhill on the ball’s plane, you will get an accurate reading much of the time. When you miss, you’ll know as the reading will be well off. Hitting wise is where you will encounter the most issues. If you’re trying to measure ball exit speed of a tee, you need to get on a knee, and aim the gun slightly up, so that the gun will be in line with where the ball will be hit. The battery lasts a long time, and there is no interface to learn, just point and pull the trigger. The gun is sturdy, and doesn’t feel like you’ll break it if you hold it wrong. All in all it’s an excellent starting gun, and if you’re buying this for your travel team, personal use, or just for fun, it will get the job done.

Works very well for me

I have checked it several times and it is very accurate for measuring the speed of the vehicles on the street in front of my house. It works whether a vehicle is going away or coming toward you. It works through the windshield of a vehicle so you can sit in your car and take readings. I have had it about a month and it is very useful. I consider it a good deal for the price.

My husband absolutely loves this speed gun. He was convinced that people were speeding up and down our residential street. Well, we’ve only clocked one car travelling over the speed limit, much to his dismay, but he still enjoys using it.

Works great, fast to measure and accurate

You know that friend who brags about his car’s top speed ? The one who says he takes a certain corner at that speed ? Well they can stand up and prove it to you. I used it for our karts testing, at race tracks, in the neighborhood, etc. Works great, fast to measure and accurate. Awesome toy for an adult 🙂

I have to say that I’m VERY pleased with this product. I believe if you follow the directions exactly and make sure you are directly in line with the throw, you will be within 1-2 mph +/-. The readings are pretty consistent and I rarely get errors. Even my 8 year old can use it and he has a great time. I think unless you are a pro scout or have a kid that is college level or higher, you have no reason to spend more money than this product. It should meet the needs of 95% of customers. Definitely a good buy,

It is awesome! Very accurate

It is awesome! Very accurate. I tried it out on cars going a specified speed to check it out. It was spot on accurate. Since then I tried it on a galloping horse and on a thrown ball. On the ball out was as accurate as the scoreboard! Love it!

This gun is very accurate for measuring vehicle speeds I will admit that. However I needed this gun for baseball. I am a college pitcher who throws in the mid to upper 80’s on any given day. The gun seemed accurate at low speeds. I threw a pitch at 50 percent effort which read an accurate 44mph. I threw about 20 pitches with 100 percent effort and the highest I got was 65mph. If you wanted to use this for a little league team it may be good however When I was 12 I was throwing harder than 65mph so it’s debatable. It seems to be 100 percent accurate with vehicle speeds. I drove by it on my motorcycle at 55mph and it read 55. I gave it 3 stars because it is dead on with vehicle speeds but wasn’t capable of handling what I needed it for.

Purchased for a science fair project. Has been in constant, daily use for months now. Works as described. Compared it, side by side, with a calibrated police radar gun… readings are within 1-2mph consistently.

We have a lot of fun with this

We have a lot of fun with this! We hosted a baseball party and everyone measured their pitch. Based on what I know of my friends’ athletic abilities, it was fairly accurate. I recommend.
