Vibration Dampeners Should be Heard, Not Seen

 on October 10, 2016
By Amazon Customer
Tennis racquet vibration dampeners don’t absorb a significant amount of energy. Primarily, their function is to modulate the typical aggravating tinny “ping” into the basso “pop” of a well-struck ball. The 21K Sports dampener design is utilitarian – not flashy or cute. It satisfies three important criteria:

They work great on my Head Graphene Radical MP

I’ve been using these dampeners for about 3-weeks now. They are fantastic. I use them on my Head Graphene Radical MP. They fit nicely on the bottom of the racket face outside of the last cross string. I also use one outside of the last cross string on the top of the racket face. USTA permits multiple devices so long as they are located inside the outside cross strings. The reason I use two is that this particular racket is dead or vibration prone near the top portion of the string bed. I used to use conventional dampeners but they would slide or come off. So far this has not happened with the 21Ksports ones. Note that the outermost portion may occasionally pop off the top string bed. It doesn’t effect my play and I just periodically adjust the dampener at the top between points. I’m a 4.0 player and string my racket with 17G poly at 38 lbs. This string combination and tension with the 21Ksports dampeners works great. Very satisfied.

It’s the best and most average dampener depending on the day

I have a love-hate relationship with this. It’s the best and most average dampener depending on the day, I swear. Not sure why, but it seems like the strings get “stuck” in it, and then it’s not as great of a dampener until I move it around a bit. I’ve tried it in several configurations, and haven’t found the magic placement yet, if it exists. Still better than all the others I’ve tried.

Great dampener that doesn’t fly off!

This is the best dampener I’ve used for 2 reasons:

Nothing special about these dampeners

I have wrist problems so I was there was something different about these but they are just dampeners. I usually use a gel worm dampener which also doesn’t pop off. I play with a Prince that has a 16×16 string pattern so it was easy to install these. However, these just reach the outside string and do slip off it. I think if you play with a racquet with an 18×20 string pattern it could be difficult to install these. So again they are not bad they are just dampeners.

Good Dampener, but a little pricey

The vibration dampener works well and looks nice on the racquet, but the price is a little high for how well it works. Also, it’d be nice if they offered a single or double pack, since they force you to overspend and purchase a 3-pack even if you only use one or two racquets.

Magic Dampener!!!

Magic Dampener! I got these because I liked the color, but after I put them on my racket I played the best tennis I’ve every played in my life. Hard to believe it was this dampener, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Best damn dampener on the planet.

Got Rid of The "Doink" Sound

 on May 23, 2018

Love these dampeners. I currently own two rackets. One is very old/heavy (Pro Kennex…..26 years old), the other is new but too light in weight for my liking (Solinco 285). Both rackets could benefit from the use of dampeners for different reasons. These dampeners from 21K Sports did the trick. I’m swinging with more confidence as I’m not anticipating the “doink” sound/vibration anymore. Installing can be tricky…..do the center strings first. After you get the first center string in place, twist the dampener so that it is almost vertical to get the second string in place. The other strings are not as difficult but don’t be afraid to twist the dampener from horizontal towards vertical to get the strings in.

Finally, a dampener that doesn’t pop out easily.

After years of losing tennis vibration dampeners (button dampeners pop out, “snake” dampener break), these dampeners clamp on four separate strings and have not budged. The racket feels (to me) more solid on both full swing strokes and placement shots at the net. I’ve used them for a week of play, and will revise this review if anything changes, but from a week of play I don’t expect I’ll need to.

These dampeners are built to stay attached, even in somewhat open string patterns. The only string pattern that seems problematic are the Steam 105s where the large head size, combined with an extreme open string pattern makes using this dampener not really possible. Otherwise, these will stay and last.
