An honest Review

 on April 15, 2018

I’ve had an opportunity to use this Carrier at least 10x since purchase. For the money I don’t think you can find a better deal on Amazon. The two primary concerns I read were on lack of instruction on how to put it together and the amount of balls it can hold. It took me roughly 15min to put it together; instructions could be better but very simple to figure out just looking at the box. Now the carrier claims it can hold 80 balls….it can if you hand place each one in the carrier; Real world application it holds around 65. Fits nice in the car, sturdy, lightweight and picks up balls with Ease. Great product.

Functional with Some Issues

This was purchased mostly due to the capacity (80 balls) and the price.

Made of cheap plastic. Breaks easily. Return to Amazon

I don’t understand why this got so many 5 star reviews. It’s made of cheap plastic. The four walls of the hopper are connected by snap-on pegs-through-holes. I accidentally broke part of the plastic as I was snapping on the walls. Sure, the walls held despite the cracked plastic. But this tells me this will fall apart sometime in the near future. Also, the plastic wall attachments are reinforced with self tapping screws. But the threading on the female part is made of plastic! I inadvertently stripped the threading as I gently screwed the screws in. Sure, the walls held. But it’s a ticking time bomb. At some point this hopper will fall apart.

I didn’t think Id like it when I opened it because it looked cheap and flimsy but I stuck with it. I bought 5 of these and donated them to the tennis program in Jr. High and they love them. A few things to consider. 1st, if you are taller like me, (I’m 6′ tall) then you may take issue with the height of this unit when opened or closed. When its full of balls and open, I do have to bend over to pick the balls out of the hopper. Its about even with my inseam when standing, so well below my waist and hips. I measured it just shy of 30″ tall. This is also a bit of an issue when picking up the balls, I dont like having to bend over so far, it strains the back. Having said that, I really didn’t get this for me, I bought it for Jr. High school kids. They LOVE these hoppers compared to the metal wilson type. They are lighter, and the size is perfect for that age group. Watching my daughter use it is cool, because it certainly makes the job easier for her. Personally I prefer the height of the wilson classic metal unit, but I recommend it to anyone for youth. I know when you open it and take it out, you will be like, “seriously” this is cheap junk, but put it together and give it a chance.

The Good: Very light

The Good: Very light, easy to assemble, and the clips to hold the handles in place are excellent. I have used this 10 times or so and really like the way it picks up balls and then I can transition to the upright position to feed balls.

Tourna Pete Sampras Ballport

This is pretty much what i needed. I needed something to hold a bunch of tennis balls so I could practice my serve and then easily pick them up. It works well, the legs when locked in place are sturdy and later, when setting it down on top of tennis balls on the court to pick them up, is really easy. I guess I’m just not sure how long the plastic box part will last…….hopefully for a long time. Overall, I’m glad I got it and will be using it a lot so if something goes wrong with it I’ll update this review. I haven’t counted how many balls it will hold but I have no complaints about how many balls it gives me to practice serve with.

Great ballport! Does the job well.

I’ve used this ballport a few times while hitting practice balls at my local courts, and I’ve been impressed with the quality of this product. The ballport is light yet seems very durable and sturdy. I’m easily able to pick up balls by pressing down on the ground. The stand works reasonable well. It took me about 20 mins to figure out how to put in together. I currently have about 20 balls in the ballport and plan to add more soon. It does appear to be able to hold about 80 as stated. I wouldn’t hesitate to get this item for yourself if you are a coach or want to hit some serves on your own.

Decent product & works as expected

Reason for the buy, bought it to practice serves and feed balls to my daughter while practicing.

i absolutely love this hopper

i absolutely love this hopper. really lightweight compared to metal ones. picks up balls easier cuz of the rolly bars on the bottom, and you dont’ have to worry about a weld coming off, thus losing the functionality. Plastic is way better imo. Only downside, is that is a little more difficult to pour balls from this hopper into a ball machine, but that is definitely not a deal breaker. highly recommend this to anyone.
